Creativity and New Media

An example of how new media has allowed us to express our creativity would be through memes. A meme is an idea that spreads from person to person within a culture or subculture. The internet has greatly expanded our ability to create and share memes. The media tool used to create a meme in this example would be imgflip.com. Here you are presented with a format, usually a picture of a pop culture reference. On this picture, you would add line(s) of text either expressing an opinion or an idea. Creativity

New media fosters creativity as it allows us to freely express our ideas and opinions in an almost unlimited way. From blogs to videos to meme posting; new media has greatly expanded our repertoire. As such, many companies are beginning to understand the importance of unhindered creativity as stated in the article "Twitter serves up ideas from its followers" which shows that technology companies have been active in allowing their to innovate rather than suppress them.

Modeling Reality with Virtual Worlds

With the improvement of technologies, it is not a surprise to hear that we have created the ability to simulate the real world in terms of virtual reality. Many forms of virtual reality such as the oculus or steam VR have given us the ability to experience new adventures without having to be physically there.  Do you want to visit the great wall of china or the pyramid of giza? If one were to compare the three platforms of discussions, blackboard, twitter and in-class discussion. The similarities between the three besides the obvious platform of discussions would be between blackboard and twitter which the ease of use with the access of the internet. Blackboard and in-class discussion have the similarities would be the focus on purely discussion while twitter response can vary between reactions, memes, fake news, etc. The differences are quite apparent. BlackBoard at times lack key features which can limit the discussion to the strictly the group who have access while twitter can start with as a small argument and grow as other users join the discussion. In-class discussion require the "user' to be in class in order to discuss with each other.

In the modern world, Social networking sites are everywhere we look. One would be able to find a social networking sites simply by accessing any site. Many sites will contain links to their social network. As such, the four sites that will be analyzed are Facebook, Twitter, SnapChat and Reddit. On the topic of Facebook, despite the potential privacy risk, it is a key tool for many users lives. Businesses use it to advertise and present their product and services to the world. The average user use it to find and communicate with others. Personally, i strictly use Facebook for messenger which is a easy way to communicate with others. In this day and age. we are constantly exposed to social networking at all angles. Something as simple as buying lunch from a new restaurant would expose you to their twitter and facebook. We are constantly bombarded with ads which conclude with a form of social networking. There are various aspects of social networking that can be positive and negative. Whether social networking is good for society is something that remains uncertain in our immediate future. One aspect of social networking in recent times would be the corporate use of it.
