If one were to compare the three platforms of discussions, blackboard, twitter and in-class discussion. The similarities between the three besides the obvious platform of discussions would be between blackboard and twitter which the ease of use with the access of the internet. Blackboard and in-class discussion have the similarities would be the focus on purely discussion while twitter response can vary between reactions, memes, fake news, etc. The differences are quite apparent. BlackBoard at times lack key features which can limit the discussion to the strictly the group who have access while twitter can start with as a small argument and grow as other users join the discussion. In-class discussion require the "user' to be in class in order to discuss with each other.

Next New

One form of new media that does not currently exist would be the next level of virtual reality. A way to effectively plug ourselves into a world where we can explore new worlds, the ability to touch and interact with either other user or artificial intelligence. This form of technology would definitely change the landscape of entertainment and learning. How one would be able to create this new media as well as the risk associated with this "connection" has yet to be decided but i believe that this may be a new form of media that we currently do not have.

In the age of digital media, it is not a surprise that we have near unlimited access to information and media. One such way, a person would obtain media/information would be via file sharing. File sharing is simply the act of distributing digital goods such as videos, books or music. P2P file sharing or peer to peer file sharing is simply a network of users who distribute digital media without a central servers. This means that if the single source would be lost, others in the network would be able to provide said digital goods. For example, according to the New York times written by Eric Pfanner who states that sites like Rapidshare which allow user to upload many forms of digital goods to be shared with other users. Other examples of these P2P file sharing would be Utorrent or Streamable.
